It is sold with rear- or four-wheel drive and is commonly used for towing and large families. Why these years stand out
2018: most complaints. The 2018 Ford Expedition scored 701 complaints per 100,000 sold, 2 times the model average. Of its 383 complaints, 269 involve the engine or transmission, and the parts named most often are power train (148), engine (100) and electrical system (32). NHTSA lists 14 recalls for this model year and 1 defect investigation.
2010, 2014 and 2023: fewest complaints. The 2010 drew 58 complaints, or 155 per 100,000 sold; The 2014 drew 72 complaints, or 161 per 100,000 sold; The 2023 drew 65 complaints, or 89 per 100,000 sold. These years have been on the road at least three years, which gives owners time to report problems, so a low count means something.
